Dr. Ann Sung graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in psychology. She obtained her doctor of optometry degree at the University of Berkeley School of Optometry and is a therapeutic and glaucoma certified optometrist. Upon graduating, Dr. Sung pursued a primary care residency at the University of Houston College of Optometry. There, she obtained training in myopia control, specialty contact lenses, and refractive and cataract surgery co-management. At the University of Houston, she also had the worthwhile experience teaching optometry students. Her passion for teaching carries into her patient care, as she strives to ensure all patients are educated on their visual and ocular health. As a San Diego native, she enjoys hiking the Torrey Pines State Reserve, Potato Chip Rock, and welcomes any trail recommendations!
Dr. Berner completed his undergraduate education at Colorado State University and worked for several years in the oil and gas industry as a petroleum landman. Desiring to help people in a more tangible way and specifically in the area of maximizing and preserving vision, he went on to complete his Doctor of Optometry degree at the Southern California College of Optometry. Dr. Berner was San Diego Kaiser Permanente’s Chief of Optometry for 15 years. Having been in practice for 30+ years, Dr. Berner brings his experience and enthusiasm to each patient visit. He is married and the proud dad of two grown daughters. He is an avid hiker in his spare time.
We are proud to announce that Dr. Marvin Weitzman re-located his Sorrento Valley practice to Scripps Poway Eyecare in 2020. Dr. Weitzman graduated from the Los Angeles College of Optometry in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970. Dr Weitzman is certified in the treatment of external ocular diseases and specializes in fitting contact lenses. As an optometrist he coordinates the laser surgery and co-manages pre and post op care for refractive surgeries. His first priority is patient care and satisfaction.
